The Oaks Lily cocktail is a fruity drink most often savored at the Kentucky Derby’s sister race, The Kentucky Oaks. However, no one will judge you for indulging in a glass or two at the Derby. It’s a delightful mix known for its refreshing and colorful presentation. Give it a try if you’re looking for a lighter alternative to the Mint Julep.

History
The Oaks Lily is the signature drink of the Kentucky Oaks, a race that takes place the day before the Kentucky Derby. Three-year-old thoroughbred fillies sprint around Churchill Downs and the winner is draped in a garland of pink stargazer lilies. The drink’s pink hue is a nod to the winner’s garland and the race’s association with breast cancer awareness.
The Kentucky Oaks, along with the Preakness’ Black-Eyed Susan Stakes and the Acorn Stakes at Belmont Park, are unofficially referred to as the ‘Filly Triple Crown.’ Just like the Oaks Lily is associated with the Kentucky Oaks, the Preakness also boasts its own signature beverage, named after the race—the Black-Eyed Susan cocktail.
Tasty, but way too sour/bitter. Once I added more simple syrup it was good. Maybe it was the cranberry juice I used. Next time I’ll use a more watered down cranberry juice like Ocean Spray or something
1/2 oz to 1 oz is all it takes
