Autumn in New England: A Bourbon Fueled Toast to Fall
Apple, Maple, Bourbon Perfection
Fall is here, and that means it’s time for proper drinking weather. Not the funny “haha” of summertime, nor the depressing “God, I’m so cold” of February, but the real, crisp, fantastic drinking season of flannel, football, and whiskey by an open fire. Autumn in New England is just such a drink, capturing the cozy warmth of fall with bourbon, maple syrup and sage. Brought to us by America’s Test Kitchen, this drink is nothing short of Thanksgiving in a glass.

What’s Inside?
The key to this cocktail is bourbon (rye works too), with its smoky undertones, and a dash of maple syrup to bring out a fall-inspired sweetness. Adding a bit of sage might seem unusual, but it truly evokes the flavors of Thanksgiving. This refreshing cocktail is perfect for apple picking, hiking, or relaxing around the fire pit.
What’s America’s Test Kitchen?
America’s Test Kitchen is a culinary company known for its rigorously tested recipes and cooking techniques. Founded in the late 1990s by Christopher Kimball, it has grown into a respected resource for eating and drinking knuckle-heads like us. While we love their recipes, in this case they seem like they’re trying a little too hard. No one should add vinegar to bourbon. Ever.
Trust us, we tried it.
